For its annual celebration of school students, Hospital 57357 honors 45 of its outstanding high school graduate patients

Students and attendees read Alfateha in favor of the nation’s martyrs, and the martyr Ahmed Mansi of the armed forces

Within the framework of its concern for education and the provision of moral support to its patients, Hospital 57357 celebrated 51 of its children with cancer who obtained high school graduating certificates with excellence. The celebration was attended by representatives of the ministry of education, deans of universities and faculties, Dr. Rafeda Askar, the director of Modern Schools of Egypt 2000 and 57357’s school, a group of Rotary club leaders, civil society organizations’ representatives and journalists. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Hanaa Farid, the 57357 Foundation’s fundraising strategic manager.

In her speech, Dr. Farid welcomed the attendees and stressed on 57357’s efforts in guiding and encouraging its patients on the path of success. Besides the medical and psychological care, the Hospital provides to its patients, it is also keen on encouraging them to pursue their studies while fighting to overcome the disease. Dr. Farid expressed the hospital’s gratitude to the ministries of education and high education for their continuous support and to civil society organizations for offering scholarships to 57357’s outstanding patients. “With the support you provide to our students, you help our country as well, said Dr. Farid. It is worth mentioning that 57357’s school, that taught 4726 students in different grades since 2008, is the first in-house school in a hospital in Egypt.

Dr. Rafeda Askar, the founder of 57357’s school and president of Modern Schools of Egypt 2000:

Every year I come here, I am proud of the heroes who give us an example of challenge and determination. Today as we celebrate a new group of 57357’s patients, high school graduates with excellence our hope for the future is renewed.

Mrs. Elham Ahmed, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Giza:

I am thrilled for attending this celebration that is different than its analogous, and I am suggesting an initiative in cooperation with 57357 to launch an electronic journal to conduct a monthly contest in science, literature and art, to discover 57357’s students’ talents and to establish a science fair at the end of the school year. It would be our pleasure to share in teaching for different grades in the Hospital’s school. My congratulations for my children, 57357’s heroes, for their performance and achievements.

Mr. Khaled Abdel Rehim, the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Abdel Hai Ebaid, the president of the Open Arab University and Dr. Magi Alhalwani, the dean of the mass communication faculty of the Canadian University, praised the efforts exerted in establishing Hospital 57357’s school, and declared that they are ready to provide support and grants to students of the Hospital.

The celebration included the honoring of university graduates who were once students in the in-hospital school with gifts and certificates of appreciation. Three of the high school graduates, sons of the staff of the Hospital were honored as well. One of the Hospital’s patients talked about his journey in overcoming cancer, and the support he received from 57357 and charitable people until he graduated from university.

The hero Waleed Hamed of 57357 celebrates his university graduation and congratulates his colleague for their excellence

Waleed Hamed, one of 57357’s survivors, shared his experience with the Hospital and the moral support he received, which helped him during his fight against bone cancer. He graduated from high school with excellence, joined the Modern Academy, and graduated with grade A, despite having a health problem that led him to be admitted to hospital and going through exams therein. Hamed congratulated his colleagues and wished them more success.

Grateful that Egypt is blessed with a great army whose heroes sacrifice their lives to ensure the security to its people, 57357’s patients along with all the attendees expressed their reverence for all the martyrs and specially the martyr Colonel Ahmed Almansi.

Hospital 57357 is expressing its gratitude to all attendees and academic institutions that offered scholarships to the graduating patients namely the Canadian University which offered five scholarships, the Modern University for technology and information which offered three and the Open Arab University which provided for two.

The Hospital is also grateful for all the sponsors of the celebration, Coca-Cola Co., Sues Canal Insurance Co., Rich bake Co., Domti Co., Lona Co. and Siwa Co., for their support and for the gifts they provided to the patients
