The purpose of the visit is to benefit from Hospital 57357’s leading experience in clinical pharmacy and to teach students about the role of the clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting and the services he provides to offer better care to patients through the optimal use of medications.

The visit included a tour in the clinical pharmacy and its departments, and a meeting with Dr. Kamal during which he educated the students about the importance of clinical pharmacy in hospitals. He explained how clinical pharmacy is an integrated system to support healthcare, and depends on activating the pharmacist’s role and using his education and experiences within the healthcare setting starting by the supervision of medication tenders, the follow up of their shipment and storage and to insure the safety of all procedures that may affect their effectiveness. Then comes the pharmacist’s responsibility in preparing the medication and his participation in specifying the dose which differs from a patient to another, and his follow up on the its effect to modify the dose if required.
