“We wanted to do something that would affect someone’s life and replant hope in his soul, so we decided to support 57357 through practicing our favorite sport, climbing mountains”, revealed Aliaa Algamal, one of the team that is going to climb Elbrus Mountain, the highest mountain in Europe, located in Russia, 5640 meters height above sea level.When we met with Algamal she shared with us that the team consists of 4 members, Mohammed Alwakad, Sherif Al-Abd, Ebraham Zakhari and herself, and that they had initially met while climbing Everest Mountain. Back then, they came up with an initiative through which they could invite the whole world to support 57357 and its children with cancer. They sent a message to the Hospital through its web site, and received a prompt reply that the 57357 administration is welcoming the idea. The Hospital’s general manager invited them to visit the hospital, a visit that changed the wrong ideas some of them had about it.
“I saw a hospital that is managed according to a careful and defined operational system. I noted the efforts exerted by all staff with dedication and love to take excellent care of their patients”. “The sick children are receiving their treatment with a smile and, for a good number of them, the hospital is not just a place for treatment but for entertainment as well”, reveals Algamal as she recalls the high moments of her visit to 57357 premises. “Moreover, during our visit, we were impressed with their serious interest in research and learning and development, as well as their unwavering commitment to offering the children the highest quality care for free. Now I can tell why the hospital is in constant need for donations, especially as it is expanding to be able to take in more children”, added Algamal.
“Actually, 57357 deserves all the support we can provide. I think if everyone did his job with the dedication and devotion we witnessed in 57357, our country would be among the finest countries of the world”, affirms Algamal.
The team chose to name their trip “summit of hope” because we think it is an example of determination and hope for every sick child to fight back and win the battle against cancer. They started by inviting every one of our friends and relatives to contribute to 57357, and they collected their donations as many of them were happy to contribute.
This is the message of the team to every child in 57357: everyone is faced with a challenge, we are challenged to climb to the top of mountains, in your case, sickness is the mountain and the challenge. With hope and determination, you will defeat it, (God Willing). We are inviting those of you who are interested and able health wise to participate in our next trip to climb mountains in Sinai.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian climbers will visit the Hospital next Monday, Aug.21, 2017 before traveling to Russia two days later, to start their trip to the top of Elbrus Mountain. It will take them a week to reach the top and raise 57357’s flag.
