In attendance of Mr. John Daniels, Vice President of HIMSS Analyticals, Hospital 57357’s General Manager and Executive Director of the 57357 group, IT department members, and a group of the Hospital’s department Heads and staff, celebrated the acquisition of the sixth level HIMSS certificate.
HIMSS is a global organization focused on improving healthcare through information technology. There is an eight-stage (0-7) model that measures the adoption and utilization level of electronic medical record functions. Hospital 57357 is the first in Africa to obtain level six of the HIMSS certification.
It is noteworthy that 57357 has been using Cerner’s health informatics system since its inception. Cerner is one of the best global health information technology systems that provide intelligent solutions for the health care industry. Besides connecting all the Hospital’s departments, Cerner enables easy access to and update of patients’ records. As the most inspiring model in the Middle East, 57357 won Cerner’s prize for innovation and achievement, while the IT department, that is responsible for applying and maintaining the system, was the first in Egypt to win the best emerging business prize in training and development from the global e-commerce council.
Over the course of one year, 57357’s medical information unit worked together with the technical support unit to obtain HIMSS certification. Earning level six of HIMSS is just a step to reach level seven and achieve our goal of providing quality healthcare services through a sophisticated informatics system that offers secure handling of patients’ data and accordingly more speed and precision in treatment provision and decision-making.
Mr. Daniels visited the Hospital to see the application of the Health Informatics system in the different departments. He viewed the expansion site and was impressed by the accuracy and precision of the Hospital’s operating system. He expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian role the Hospital is playing in providing free quality services to the children with cancer.
