Biography:

Omneya Hassanain is a pharmacist with 18 years of professional experience mostly in the domains of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health economics, Clinical Research and clinical Pharmacy. In her pursuit to enhance her knowledge and skills and move to specialty area in Oncology Pharmacy; she gained her Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy from the American Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in 2007. She had her masters in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance with specialization in benefit risk assessment of medicine with a focus on health economics from University of Bordeaux. She is one of the co-founders of the research department at Hospital 57357. She has extensive hands-on experience in statistical theory and methods, data analysis, health economics and various aspects of research. Working at CCHE, she is responsible for supporting the conduct of different types of research studies from design to analysis and publication. This included initiating, implementing and overseeing a number of projects including:

  • Building epidemiologic research infrastructure through designing cancer specific tools for collecting of epidemiologic exposures as well as establishing and maintaining an electronic database for future research. Developing a pool of epidemiologic data on different exposure associated with increased cancer risk in children through collecting data from cases presenting at CCHE and matched population-based controls.
  • Working on a capacity planning project for better utilization of hospital beds using decision analytic modelling.
  • Establishing the Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) treatment, monitoring and research program that works to standardize the NHL treatment protocols, audit the process of implementation of treatment protocols, establish standards for data management and analysis that is used to improve the clinical practice application process and decisions making as well as facilitate research.
  • Maintaining an institutional cancer registry.
  • She serves as an instructor in a number of course in epidemiology, statistics and Pharmacoeconomic Modeling and Simulation. Currently she is the Head of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit at the Clinical Research-CCHE-57357 Hospital.
