American University of Sharjah alumni visit Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357 in Egypt

    A delegation from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) Alumni Association chapter in Egypt visited the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357.

A delegation from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) Alumni Association chapter in Egypt visited the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357 to provide moral and financial support to the patients and learn more about the hospital’s equipment and capabilities.

The delegation’s visit included a tour of the hospital, during which they met the young patients and presented them with gifts and toys. Participants were briefed about the hospital’s facilities and equipment, specifically those acquired with the support of the UAE for various departments, including the pharmacy, internal departments [AH1] [AH2], the one-day treatment unit and the art therapy workshop. The visiting delegation commended the hospital’s capabilities, and the support it provides children.

Located in Cairo, Hospital 57357 is a high-level treatment facility that provides free, professional services for children affected by cancer.

AUS alumna Farah Abbas El-Sadat, Egypt Chapter Representative of the Alumni Association, said the chapter hopes to develop an ongoing relationship with the hospital.

“We want to launch a community awareness campaign with Hospital 57357 in 2022 and learn more about the latest medical technologies used and the extent of care offered to the young patients. We would also like to organize an open day with the children to support them in their medical journey and bring a smile to their face,” said El-Sadat.

During their time at AUS, students are encouraged to participate in community service, with the university offering numerous volunteer opportunities with humanitarian causes. Many alumni continue to support charitable causes after graduation.

Mohamed Yousef Al-Sharhan, President of the AUS Alumni Association, stressed the importance of alumni participation in various social activities, particularly those that have a humanitarian aspect because of their significant positive impact on people’s lives. Al-Sharhan praised the role played by university alumni around the world through their various initiatives. He noted that this initiative by  the Egypt Chapter of the AUS Alumni Association not only supports an important cause, it also embodies the university’s vision.

The AUS Alumni Association has more than 18,000 members in the UAE and around the world who occupy prominent positions in government, and local and international organizations. Working closely with the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, the association and its various chapters are among the main channels through which alumni collaborate with their alma mater.

AUS was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah.
