A message from the administration for the start of Ramadan for 57357

Thanking all 57357 staff for their great efforts at reversing the negative effects of past years crises.

A year has gone by so rapidly to find us busy again preparing for the advent of Ramadan.

As COVID-19 threats are slowly fading away in Egypt and around the world, the war outbreak in Ukraine and the sudden increase in $ value against the L.E. tosses us again in a world of instability and uncertainty about the future. Nevertheless, we hope for us all to spend Ramadan in good health, and high spirits.

To all our donors, charity partners, and faithful supporters we wish you a blessed month filled with serenity and the simple joys of life such as the gathering of friends and family around the Iftar table. Last year, at Hospital 57357, we were struggling hard to overcome the sharp decline in donations and to ensure the delivery of the same quality services to our patients.

Nevertheless, 2021/2022 was still a year of achievements for the 15 year old 57357 Institution:

  • The hospital received its JCI quality healthcare accreditation for the third consecutive time, the ASHP accreditation for the excellence of its pharmaceutical services, and the American Nursing Credentialing Center ANCC accreditation of 57357’s nursing continuous education.
  • Over-all survival rate is still oscillating around the 72%. – Bone marrow transplantations performed increased to 82 versus 65 in 2020. – 1278 brain surgeries were performed versus 1190 in 2020 with over-all survival rate of 64.6% – 2091184 lab tests versus 1,614930  in 2020 were performed with high accuracy and speed, as the labs were upgraded to include the world’s latest equipment.
  • The Hospital pursued its equipment up-grading operation to ensure maximum safety and comfort to its patients namely: the CT simulator for the cyberknife radiation technology, the automated pathology lab, the latest CT equipment for orthopedic surgeries, updated medication dispensing machines for the pharmacy, upgraded version of the liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) equipment for therapeutic drug monitoring, four new ICU machines: a new ventilator, ultrasound, heaters, and nebulizer, Ultrasound SonositePX for operating rooms, new dental machines, chemical substance manufacturing machine for the PET/CT scan.
  • 2021/2022 witnessed the highest rate of research papers releases, where 84 papers were published in cooperation with Egyptian and international universities in international scientific journals.
  • With respect to smart education, we pursued the provision of existing training programs such as the joint 57357/Dana Farber Boston Children’s pediatric oncology fellowship program, and the pharmacist residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Training activities expanded by 51% to accommodate larger numbers and participants from outside Egypt (62% increase) which is a great opportunity for invading new markets and gaining flexibility for adapting with the fast progression in the educational field. Training in 18 new disciplines & 3 events were initiated.

A hopeful future awaits us In his message to employees on the occasion of upcoming Ramadan, the hospital CEO is confident about the future.

Thanking all 57357 staff for their great efforts at reversing the negative effects of past years crises, he still reminds them that the journey is far from coming to an end as long as we are committed to the vision of a cancer-free childhood.  He shared the roadmap for the future: a different strategy that stresses on quality versus quantity, (doing more what we excel in versus admitting a greater number of patients) and the constant pursuit of the well-being of the patient with passion and compassion.

Looking ahead, 57357 is getting ready to open the cyberknife building, and completing the proton therapy installation; both new innovative technologies in radiotherapy that remarkably reduce the side effects of the conventional one. We are also working to triple our capacity in bone marrow transplantations. Finally, he announced that we are working hard and looking forward to getting three important world accreditations: CAP for labs, MAGNET for nursing, CCPC, the strongest certification as a specialty center as well as Egypt’s quality certification for Hospitals GAHAR. Have a blessed Ramadan!
