Zeina’s mother: the treatment journey is long, but many children in 57357 defeated the disease

The day we were admitted to the Hospital with my daughter while frightened and shattered, God sent me a good omen: another mother with her daughter looking happy and laughing. She told me that her daughter had finished treatment and was healed, thanks to God. She added: I wish for Zeina to recover too very soon. Nice words of comfort that reassured me that God will grant my daughter healing in this place.

The mother goes on:

Zeina is 11 months old but she is not living babyhood like other children. Early on she was struck by the disease. She was 4 months old when I noticed she was losing weight. Doctors prescribed                 vitamins, still her condition got worse: I noticed a change in her eyes being a constant movement of the pupil and a noticeable squint. The doctor advised to do an MRI on the brain. As soon as she saw the results, the doctor informed us that Zeina had a brain tumor and that we should take her immediately to Hospital 57357 who are very advanced in curing this type of tumor and free of charge.

I hurried to the Hospital in shock. They put her on a waiting list. They were informed of her condition till her turn came to be admitted. From the very first day, we went through tests and scans and we were informed that she had a tumor behind the eye nerve and that the treatment would consist of different phases as the tumor was located in a very sensitive area. They needed to make the tumor shrink with chemotherapy. As such, Zeina took 10 chemotherapy sessions during the first phase. The MRI showed that she was responding to the treatment and that the tumor size decreased. We started the second phase of treatment with 10 other chemo sessions. The treatment is completely free of charge and zeina’s condition is improving. She does not cry as before and she is gaining weight. Our accommodation is also for free.

Still, Zeina’s treatment journey will last long as is the case of many other children. But, we are really thankful to God. Each day, I come across children that recover from the disease and I hear their mothers wishing for Zeina to recover too. This gives me hope as I thought this disease is incurable. God granted this hospital with devoted staff who are of great help and support to the patients and their families, doing their utmost to cure the children and restore hope to their parents.

Zeina’s diagnosis: optic nerve glioma

Her treatment journey will still last long but with God’s grace and with your support, we can provide the best care to our children with cancer, save many, and raise our survival rates.
