Advanced neonatal and pediatric mechanical ventilation (part 1) is designed to provide the advanced knowledge and skills needed for proper use of modern neonatal and pediatric mechanical ventilators as well as all updated ventilation strategies in different pediatric diseases.

By the end of this course participant will be able to:

  1. understanding the advanced pulmonary physiology during health as well as the pathophysiology of developing respiratory illnesses.
  2. Understand the pathophysiology of respiratory failure and the need for mechanical ventilator support.
  3. Get the fundamental knowledge about all advanced issues of neonatal and pediatric mechanical ventilation and the working mechanisms and functions of the most recent conventional mechanical ventilators approved for use in the neonatal and pediatric age groups.
  4. Acquir knowledge and skills necessary for proper use of all advanced technology incorporated in modern mechanical ventilators including the advanced ventilator modes, multiple recent monitoring systems and advanced diagnostic tools.
  5. Establish a precise classification system that provides rapid and practical guide to all clinicians dealing with modern conventional mechanical ventilators.
  6. Provid the proper applications of the most recent latest guidelines designed for use of conventional mechanical ventilation in different pediatric diseases.
  7. use ventilator graphics in evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of the applied ventilator strategy and in detecting any potential problems so that early corrective measure can be taken in a time fashion.
  8. Avoid potential complications associated with the use of mechanical ventilation to provide safe and effective ventilation.

All physicians, specialists and consultants working in the field of neonatal and pediatric critical care medicine including those working in emergency rooms, intermediate care units and neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
