Overview
During this internship participant will spend one week training in clinical pathology department in different lab units
Learning Objectives
By the end of this internship participants will be able to:
–Microbiology:
• Conduct a blood culture.
• Use identification and sensitivity methods.
• Use manual identification and sensitivity methods.
• Analyze samples.
–Chemistry:
• Understand how to deal with samples.
• Understand how to use Cerner.
• Know how to use Arterial Blood Gases Equipment and Spectrophotometry.
–Hematology:
• Check sample validity from the point of withdrawal.
• Understand what CBC is.
• Understand what components of the blood pictures are.
• Understand what are the techniques conducted in CBC.
• Understand the coagulation profile.
–Blood Bank:
• Blood grouping &cross matching.
• Dispensing of blood and blood components.
