Tumor Biology Research Program
Overview
Our laboratory is specialized and equipped to explore metabolism and mitochondria function in various conditions including cancer, neurobiological, and cardiovascular diseases. We are also studying the role of mitochondria in developing chemo resistance and in immune rejections of bone marrow transplantation.
The laboratory for metabolic studies offers basic technical training on experimental techniques including gene and protein quantifications, mitochondrial functions, and imaging in the context of translational medicine. Didactic activities will cover relevant conceptual background through peer-to-peer interactions and regular seminars in the laboratory.
Learning Objectives
• To help students to gain insights into mitochondrial biology, and how dysregulation of metabolism and mitochondrial function contributes to the pathogenesis of various dieses
• To provide students with opportunities to gain familiarity with the state of the art methodology for assessment of mitochondrial function in different biological samples
• To teach student data collection and analysis related to mitochondrial biogenetics in both healthy
