Hospital 57357 welcomed Dr. Ali Ellebedy and Dr. Paul Thomas, both immunity professors at Washington University, Missouri and St. Jude Hospital, USA respectively. The visit was set up upon an invitation from Prof. Dr. Rami Aziz, head of 57357’s immunity research unit, who joined them along with the representative of the continuous education administration on a tour of the facility. They visited the cyberknife building, where Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, head of hospital 57357’s radiotherapy offered them a demonstration of the treatment modalities and explained the different cases where the device is best used, as the Hospital is keen to offer its children latest technology in cancer treatment. The professors were impressed to find such an advanced technology which is the first time in Africa. They visited the pathology lab which is the first of its kind to be entirely automated, where it enables specimen analysis in a considerably short time compared to the traditional way.

The visit included a lecture given by Dr. Ellebedy about vaccinations, their efficacy and the time range of their protection. Dr. Thomas gave a lecture about the role of immunity cells “T” in contagious diseases and their relation to cancer.

At the end of the visit they met with Dr. Aziz, and discussed research projects as a prelude for future cooperation in the field of research.
