As a leader in the field of clinical pharmacy, Hospital 57357 is pursuing to provide the best clinical pharmacy services for sick children through the resident pharmacist training program. By mid-February 2020, the third cohort of the program formed of 16 pharmacists, started the one –year training. The resident pharmacist program aims to support the development of clinical pharmacy practices through a  world standard goals curriculum , a follow up and continuous evaluation of the pharmacist’s personal and functional skills, towards developing  a pharmacist capable of taking care of patients. The program is taught by  a team of 57357 pharmacists who are certified by Colorado University.

It is noteworthy that the first cohort was trained during the period from January, 2018 to December 2018, while the second cohort’s training lasted from February 2019 to January 2020. The resident pharmacist program along with pharm-D program are considered important steps for the pharmacist’s employment career, where the student graduates after having received a training in the seven main departments of pharmacy. The program contributes to filling the gap that new graduates face as they need to practically apply what they have studied.

At Hospital 57357, we are not just providing pharmaceutical services but working to make it in a cost-effective  manner  through rationalizing the use of medications and preventing waste to give the patients the right effective doses where the patient’s interest and well-being is the focus.

The Hospital’s pharmaceutical services department includes 155 pharmacists throughout all departments. 57357’s pharmacy area was recently up-graded to qualify for highest standards in medication preparation, air quality, equipment and preparation areas, which enabled it to be the first hospital in Africa to receive the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, ASHP accreditation for its resident pharmacist training.
