Abdallah, one of 57357’s volunteers is a fine example of Egypt’s Youth. He is graduating this year from the Faculty of Agriculture. He spends his leisure time as a volunteer in Hospital 57357 to be of service to the patients and their families.

Besides consecrating a certain amount of days on a weekly basis, Abdallah is presently coming to the Hospital every day. As soon as his done with his faculty courses, the rest of the day is spent in the company of 57357’s children with cancer, attempting to put a smile on their weary faces. Whenever solicited, he is there to help in organizing events, welcoming new volunteers, donors and visitors, answering their questions and guiding them around the Hospital sections while they tour the premises.

“I came across some rumors about 57357 following their refusal to admit my cousin, But when I first visited the Hospital, it became clear to me, how wrong these rumors were and I insisted to enroll myself there as a volunteer”, reveals Abdallah. Abdallah explains that it is only when he visited the Hospital and experienced how much effort, care, and organization is exerted to guarantee the success of operations and the quality of services it provides, that he understood the reason for sending away cases for which there is no room. This is precisely the time he felt he had to be part of this praiseworthy endeavor that is committed to curing children with cancer.

Abdallah reveals that he delights in helping out in all Hospital activities but he is really fulfilled and proud whenever he is able to bring some brightness into the lives of the children. He shares that one of the patients, Mostafa, who refused to take his medication, often expressed his wish to one day visit the Cairo Tower. After consultation with his physician, Abdallah was able to take Mostafa on a visit to the Cairo Tower. He also offered him an I-pad he desired so much to get. Mostafa was so happy that he started taking his treatment.

Do not underestimate the role of the volunteers in 57357. They are of great support to health professionals, especially in accompanying the children on their treatment journey, encouraging them to fight and helping them to overcome their fears.

Thank you Abdallah and all of 57357’s volunteers! You are the great examples of compassion and unconditional love and giving.
