Within the framework of Hospital 57357’s commitment to disseminate and exchange knowledge and expertise, a training program was set up in collaboration between Hospital 57357 and 5th graders of pharmacy school al Delta university following the example of the Pharm D program of putting theory into practice. This training program focusses on enabling students to work on real cases of patients to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies required to practice clinical pharmacy. This program also follows the guidelines of the school’s curriculum under the supervision of Dr. Shaimaa Khamis, Professor of clinical pharmacy and deputy manager of quality assurance unit, school of pharmacy, Al Delta University for Sciences & technology, and Dr. Ahmed Anwar, Manager of training and pharmacy education, at Hospital 57357.

In the span of 2 weeks, the  program included practical training in both sections solid tumors and blood cancer. Students were divided into small groups of three persons who received training at the hands of specialists in the field. Students took part in the daily rounds on patients and in designing their treatment plan which resulted in a direct interaction with patients and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills that enable them to join the labor market as professional clinical pharmacists.

The program aims at highlighting the role of the clinical pharmacist within the in- patient section. It trains students on how to administer pharmaceutical care, to collect patent’s data and evaluate them to assess their condition, on setting up a comprehensive medical care plan, on timely documenting patient care procedure in a suitable manner.
